The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist: A Room-by-Room Guide
/
Cleaning Tips, Deep Cleaning, Domestic Cleaning
Spring is the perfect time to give your home a thorough refresh. After months of closed windows, central heating and darker days, dust, grime and clutter have a way of building up in every corner. A proper spring clean leaves your home feeling brighter, fresher and more comfortable.
But where do you start? It can feel overwhelming when you look at the whole house at once. That is why we have put together this room-by-room spring cleaning checklist. Work through it at your own pace, or bring in the professionals and let us handle it for you.
Kitchen
The kitchen is usually the hardest-working room in the house, so it deserves extra attention during a spring clean.
- Deep clean the oven, hob and extractor fan
- Clean inside and behind the fridge and freezer
- Wipe down all cupboards inside and out, and reorganise contents
- Clean the microwave using the lemon steam method (see our microwave cleaning guide)
- Descale the kettle and clean small appliances
- Scrub the sink and taps until they gleam
- Clean splashbacks and tile grouting
- Wash the bin inside and out
- Mop the floor thoroughly, moving furniture to reach underneath
- Wash dishcloths, tea towels and oven gloves
Bathroom
Bathrooms need regular deep cleaning, but spring is the time to tackle the jobs you normally skip.
- Scrub the bath, shower and shower screen or curtain
- Deep clean the toilet, including behind and around the base
- Remove limescale from taps, showerheads and plugs
- Clean tile grouting (a paste of bicarbonate of soda and water works well)
- Clean mirrors and glass shelving
- Wipe down the bathroom cabinet inside and out — discard expired products
- Wash bath mats, towels and shower curtains
- Clean the extractor fan
- Mop the floor and clean skirting boards
Living Room
- Move furniture and vacuum behind and underneath sofas and chairs
- Dust all surfaces including shelves, picture frames, lampshades and ornaments
- Clean windows inside and out (if accessible)
- Wipe down windowsills and window frames
- Vacuum or wash curtains and clean blinds
- Clean the TV screen and any electronics
- Vacuum sofas and cushions — check down the sides for crumbs and debris
- Clean radiators
- Shampoo or steam clean carpets and rugs
- Dust skirting boards, light fittings and door frames
Bedrooms
- Wash all bedding including duvets, pillows and mattress protectors
- Vacuum and flip or rotate the mattress
- Clean inside wardrobes and drawers — declutter clothes you no longer wear
- Dust all furniture, including the tops of wardrobes and headboards
- Clean mirrors and windows
- Vacuum under the bed
- Wipe down light switches, plug sockets and door handles
- Clean curtain poles and blinds
Hallway and Stairs

Do Not Forget These Often-Missed Areas
